PDF Security

AlphaTrust PRONTO™ Server ERSS software is a server-based transaction system for accomplishing four key tasks related to electronically signing documents:
  1. Proper presentment of documents over the Web in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  2. Proper collection of electronic signatures using one of a variety of collection methods, in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  3. Recording of a full audit trail for each transaction.
  4. Creation of a chain of custody for each signed document over time.
Because signed documents are long-lived it may be necessary to determine at a later date whether a document has been changed or altered in any manner since it was originally signed. The PRONTO™ Server software provides several methods for doing so. However, it may be desired to have an independent verification method that is not dependant on the original processing server for a document.
PRONTO™ Server ERSS provides a method of digitally signing, for security purposes (using public key cryptography), each Adobe© PDF document and embedding this digital signature information within each Adobe© PDF document in such a way that the both the data integrity and the identity of the original processing server can be determined using only Adobe© Reader or Adobe Acrobat© version 6 or later.
The two documents referenced below describe how to work with Adobe© Reader© or Adobe Acrobat© versions 6 and 7 so that these digital signatures can be independently verified:
